Birthday in Barcelona

Birthday in Barcelona

Although the entire week we spent in Barcelona was incredible, my actual birthday there was by far the highlight. We took the day off from sightseeing to spend it consuming my favourite things (food, drinks, and shopping!), and relaxing on the waterfront. Follow along for the perfect birthday.

We started the day by ordering iced coffees and croissants. The coffee arrived somewhat deconstructed, which I loved.10am

Following our “breakfast,” we headed into Le Boqueria Market, where we grazed on tapas, smoothies, and colourful candies.11 am_La Boqueria

We proceeded to walk off some of the delicious carbs in my favourite hood: Bari Gothic.1 pm

We then headed to the beach, where we lazed on sun beds sipping mojitos.3 pm_Beachin It

After heading back to the hotel to freshen up, we went out for Barcelona’s best paella, with I happily accompanied with champagne and scallops.9pm

Following dinner, we went to check out the Magic Fountain of Montjuic Show. Little did we know at the time, it would become the highlight of our entire trip. J summed up the experience perfectly by saying “It’s like seeing fireworks for the first time.” The water fountains were paired with a light show, all choreographed to a variety of epic music. So the photos really don’t do it justice. All I have to say is, if you’re in BCN on a Thursday eve, make it your priority to see it.Magic Fountain BCN

My spectacular day ended with crema catalana for dessert, which I will feature in my final BCN post: Postcard from Barcelona.
